Let Me In by Clare McGowan

I'm not normally a thriller person... If I'm honest I'm a bit of a wimp with an overactive imagination that doesn't need ghost stories before bed! However, when the lovely Krystina of @omcbookclub pinged me a message raving about the read along she was hosting with Tandem Books I was more than a little intrigued.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and here we are!

Firstly, I want to say really enjoyed Let Me In. The story was fast paced and was able to keep me interested from cover to cover. I felt that the characters were relatable and honest in a way that a lot of writers find difficult and I never had a moment where I didn't want to know what happened next. There was a rawness to the protagonists and having multiple pov's allows the reader to engage with the narrative in a way that made Let Me In unputdownable.

One area I did struggle with was the "witch" ellement. It felt like an added detail that wasn't needed. Janna was more of a herbalist in my eyes, a folky medicine woman that renounced the chemicals of modern medicine for a more organ remedy. This does not make a witch. For me, it was one of the only points I could not get my head around.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story and the characters had me caring about what happened. I wouldn't say I was totally shocked by the ending, but there was enough meat to the story to keep me reading.

My favourite part of reading this book, however, was being able to share it with fellow booklovers. Sharing thoughts and conspiracies made reading Let Me In an experience rather than just another book. Thank you One More Chapter Bookclub and Tandem books for such a great experience. It has reignited my love of the community and reading in general and I can't wait for the next one.

Happy reading
