Unashamed by Elizabeth G.

Unashamed is an honest, raw depiction of one women’s experiences in life. It’s not sugar coated in a way that is trying to say “go be a sex worker, it’s great” but it allows for an alternative perspective to be bought to the table. It allows a voice for a profession that would often be pushed into the shadows .

What I enjoyed most about Unashamed was the honesty. Elizabeth doesn’t shy away from saying she made some mistakes, but she always (eventually) learnt from them. It’s human nature to fall down, it’s the getting back up that’s hard and Elizabeth got back up more times than most will in their entire lives.

I was a big fan of The Secret Diary of a Call Girl way back when and I once spent an hour (okay it was hours… over many weeks) debating the rights of sex workers with anyone that would listen. I wholeheartedly believed that if sex work was legalised and the stigma attached was removed, it would allow those trafficked to be able to step forward. That there are plenty of people who CHOSE to be part of that industry and it’s the shame around it that stops those who didn’t pick that path from stepping forward. These words were spoken back to me in the concluding chapters of this book and it reminded me of the young woman I used to be. A voice I think i've lost along the way.

We live in a world where Only Fans is a household name, where those creators are becoming part of everyday life. Yet, sex work like that in this book, is still taboo? Why is one ellementof the sex industry being normalised and the other still shamed?

Wherever you stand on the subject, I hope you can open yourselves up to this book. No matter if you’re a sex worker or a nun, or anything in between, putting your life on paper for everyone to see is brave as hell. I respect Elizabeth for her honesty and I hope it opens the minds of others.

Happy Reading

About Elizabeth G.Born and raised on a farm in rural Bedfordshire, Elizabeth’s upbringing was a far cry away from the world that awaited her. After graduating from university with a degree in marketing, she broadened her horizons and travelled to Australia. It was during her travels and with funds running low when she came across an opportunity to earn big in a Sydney massage parlour. Here began her years of working in the sex industry; one of the most lucrative industries in the world. Upon returning to the UK and struggling to pay the fees for her master’s degree, Elizabeth made the decision to upgrade from erotic massage therapist to London escort.

Over the course of her career, Elizabeth has evolved from a self-confessed hedonist to the sober and financially independent businesswoman she is today. In sharing her story, Elizabeth hopes to eradicate the shame for those who love working in the sex industry and help provide better protection for those who not only enjoy the industry but also for those who are forced into it. Unashamed is her first book.
