Wish you were here - Jodi Picoult

You know when you read a book and then suddenly you’re halfway through and you’re reading something entirely different to what you thought? That’s what Wish You Were Here is. It’s a book of two halves and I’ve not quite decided how I feel about that yet.

I’ll be honest, I’ve used to adore Picoult’s books! House Rules and Nineteen Minutes are two of my all time favourites. However, her more recent releases always leave me feeling a little underwhelmed. Like thinking you’re taking a trip to Disney land, and the journey is amazing but before you get there you end up broken down on the side of the motor way and the story’s just… over! However, I am happy to day Wish You Were Here took me all the way to Disney.

It’s the first book I’ve read that deals with the pandemic, and the impact it had. Reading about some of the madness that was 2020 was hard to swallow but there were parts that had me in fictional bliss. Picoults descriptions of the Galápagos had me dreaming of blue seas and turtles. As always with Picoult books, it wasn’t all sunshine and adventures, there were parts that made me uncomfortable and parts that made me think. But it was up there with some of her older stuff, it’s a new kind of Picoilt classic and I would highly recommend this book.

It’s a book for those dreaming of blue seas

It’s a book for those who believe in second chances

It’s a book that says lockdown never looked so sexy
